Stephen Scimonello is the Education and Accreditation Policy Manager at the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) and also operates a private building surveying consultancy. With more than 25 years of experience as a Registered Building Practitioner in the category of Building Surveyor – Unlimited with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), he is also an AIBS Level 1 Accredited Building Surveyor.

Stephen holds a PhD, a Master of Engineering, a Master of Social Science (Planning and Environment), and a Bachelor of Technology (Building Surveying). Throughout his career, he has served on a number of government advisory panels, including as an Advisory Reference Panel Member, a VBA representative on the Victorian Cladding Taskforce, an external panel member of the VBA Technical Advisory Panel of Consultants, an expert witness, and a member of the Building Regulations Advisory Committee. He has also provided building surveying consultancy services to several regional and metropolitan councils across Victoria.
